Opioid Update - Spring 2018
In 2016, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz established the Opiate Epidemic Task Force, bringing together social service agencies, law enforcement, physicians, mental health and addictions providers, the health insurance industry, and members of victims’ families in the fight against opioid abuse. Since then, numerous initiatives have begun to help combat Erie County’s opioid epidemic from multiple angles ranging from first responder narcan training, to expanded evidence-based treatment options, to community and provider education.
